The Southern California (Invitational) Qualifying Tournament will be held over the weekend of June 27-28 at the Lakeview Senior Center (20 Lake Road, Irvine, CA 92604).

This tournament will qualify four players for the State Championship Finals. These four players will compete with four seeded players for the title of Southern California State Champion.

The seeded players are the current state champion, the winner of the Southern California Open, and the two highest rated Southern Californian residents per the June 1998 rating supplement.

The Qualifying Tournament will be a four-round Swiss, FIDE-rated, with a 40/2, SD/1 time control. Rounds will be at 10:30 AM and 5:00 PM each day. Spectators are welcomed at both events free of charge.
